The Gift of Wheels
While officers dealt with a suicidal subject, our Chief of Police and one of our officers, Annalise Roselli, were having a chat with an uninvolved lady (Gloria) who lived across the street. During the course of the conversation, Gloria mentioned she was upset as the City had removed one of their bus stops, which just happened to be close to her grocery store. Stating the new bus stop is too far away from the grocery store, and mentioning she doesn’t drive, she said in passing she’ll have to look at getting a bicycle.
Officer Roselli then contacted the local fire department and found out they had some leftover, adult-size bicycles from their annual toy drive. In working with the fire department, Officer Roselli was able to procure a purple bike with a basket, which she presented to Gloria. It’s sufficient to say Gloria was ecstatic with her new bike and very appreciative of Officer Roselli’s act of kindness.
These kinds of acts happen multiple times every day in American law enforcement without anybody ever knowing it. I’m proud to be a member of law enforcement, and I’m proud to say Officer Annalise Roselli is a part of my team.
